Shakib surpasses Sobers-Botham

Yet another record has belonged to Bangladesh’s poster boy Shakib Al Hasan. The all-rounder has achieved a double during the first day of the first Test against Australia in Mirpur. [নিউজটি বাংলায় পড়ুনঃ সোবার্স-বোথামদের পিছনে ফেললেন সাকিব] 

Shakib has become the tenth player in Test history to register more than 3500 runs and 150 wickets. Not only that, he is the fastest player ever to achieve the feat as he topped the list which includes the Test legends.

Shakib took only 50 matches to get 3500 runs and 150 wickets. He took his 150th wicket last year against England in Chittagong. Nine months later, he has crossed 3500 runs in his career. He required only eight before the start of the Dhaka Test.

West Indian legend Garfield Sobers and England’s greatest Ian Botham were the joint holders of being the fastest to register 3500 runs and 150 wickets in Tests. They had taken 63rd matches each to achieve the record. South Africa’s Jacques Kallis took six matches more.

Shakib brought up his 22nd half-century in his 50th Test outing. He fell 16 runs short of a century. He departed scoring 84 runs off 133 balls.
