The main task was to improve the drainage system of the stadium and chief pitch curator Gamini De Silva informed the task has been completed successfully.

De Silva said, “Now water will not lodge in the stadium even after rain falling. The field could be prepared within 10 to 15 minutes after rain ceased.”

“Even incessant rain fall would not cause trouble. In last few weeks there are torrential rain falls but we were able to manage the condition within fifteen minutes after rain stopped. The drainage condition of Mirpur is now much more enhanced,” said De Silva.

He further said, “The ground and pitches of Mirpur is already prepared for the upcoming match against Australia. We have achieved the target that we have been in since last February – March.”
