Australia’s skipper Steve Smith is surprised by the bold comments coming from the Bangladesh camp about winning the Test series 2-0 against Australia. However, Smith was quick to remind Bangladesh about it’s not so impressive record in the international Test arena.
“It’s pretty confident, isn’t it?” Smith said when asked about the bold remarks coming from both players and the coach of Bangladesh.“I think Bangladesh have only won nine of their 100 games so it’s very confident.”
Bangladesh’s premier all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, Test captain Mushfiqur Rahim and head coach Chandika Hathrusingha, all have proclaimed that Bangladesh can whitewash Australia in the upcoming Test series. The bold statement has clearly riled up the Australian players as previously Nathan Lyon and now Smith express their bewilderment.
Smith acknowledged Bangladesh’s recent good form in the longer format and labeled the upcoming Test series as a challenge for him and his teammates.
“Look, they are obviously confident about their skillset at the moment. They are at home and most teams play well at home and Bangladesh have been playing well at home, so it’s going to be a good challenge for us.”
Smith further said that the series is going to be an entertaining one for both the cricketers and spectators. And he and his teammates are eager to utilize their lessons from last years India series.
“I think it’s gonna be a great series. It’s a great challenge for my group of players to see what we have learned from India.Looking at the wicket, I think it’s gonna be somewhat similar what we got in India. Hopefully, we can learn from what we did there. And no doubt it’s gonna be an exciting series.”
