Ahead of the most waited two-match Test series against Australia, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Thursday, announced a 25-member squad instead of continuing with the 29-member contingent that began preparations on June 10 focusing majorly on physical fitness.
The team management decided to include two comparatively new faces in the 25-man squad as two young spinners Naeem Hasan and Sanjit Saha have been included in the team.
Alongside them few other spinners such as Saqlain Sajib, Taijul Islam, Tanbir Hayder also have been included in the team. Chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu, however explained the reason behind adding more spinners in the team.
According to the former Bangladesh captain, Steave Smith led Australia are comparatively weak against spin and that’s why team management decided to add more spinners in the side as they believe spinners would play a major part in deciding the outcome of the match.
“We know they are comparatively weak against spin, so we wanted to have all our options in place. Spinners did a tremendous job during the series against England and we want them to put up a similar effort but at the same time there spot is up for grabs for slow bowlers,” the chief selector explained.
