Bangladesh head coach Chandika Hathurusinghe has had experience working with five key members of the current Australia side which will tour Bangladesh after a few days. This includes Aussie skipper Steve Smith, opener David Warner, pace duo Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins and frontline spinner Nathan Lyon.
However, Hathurusinghe does not believe he knows the secret to stop the Australians or is better placed than any other coach when it comes to finding a hole in their technique.
“Whether you are involved with them personally, nowadays there’s so much information available [about a player’s technique]. In the end it’s whether or not you have the ammunition or skill set to exploit what you know from that information,” Hathurusinghe told foxsports.com.au.
He added, “What you get from working with them is knowing their psyche, their mentality and how they approach the game. What makes them tick and what irritates them. If you work with some of the team and some of the players long enough you get to know them. That’s the advantage.”
In the meantime the experienced Bangladesh coach admitted knowing how the Australians think and making the most of it are two different things.
“It’s very hard to pinpoint just what is going to unsettle them. But at least you can discuss with the team Australia’s approach. For example how Nathan Lyon is going to bowl and what he likes batsmen to do and what he dislikes batsmen to do … Those are things we always discuss regardless of any team,” he concluded
