Chief selector denies hearing news of Tamim’s taking a break

Tamim-Mushfiqur extend lead near 200Few days ago world no. 1 all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan wanted a little break from Test Cricket and BCB has gave him the permission. He will not play in the two match Test series against South Africa although BCB Cricket Operations Committee Chairman Akram Khan said Shakib could appear in the second Test if he wishes so.

When everyone is talking about Shakib’s decision of taking rest, some of the report suggests opener Tamim Iqbal has asked for a break too.

The two match Test series will commence from 28th September and it will end on 10th October. Afterwards the ODI series will begin and Tamim Iqbal wants to take break in that time.

However, BCB Operation Committee’s chairman Akram Khan and Chief Selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu doesn’t know anything about Tamim’s decision of taking a break.

Former Captain Akram Khan is Tamim Iqbal’s uncle too and he informed he doesn’t know anything about it yet. On Thursday, he said in a press conference: “Tamim is still in Pakistan. Let him come first, then we will clear everything. I don’t know anything about it yet.”

Chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu said similarly: “I don’t know anything about it. Tamim wants a break, such rumors didn’t come to my ears.”

It doesn’t matter whether its ODI, T20I or Test, Tamim Iqbal is Bangladesh’s best batsman in every format of the game. If the rumors turn out to be true and he doesn’t play in the ODI series against South Africa, then the Tigers surely will have to suffer.
