That was the 300th match of the world cup winning captain of India, MS Dhoni. He enlisted his name in a world record among the 19 cricketers who made this before. That is, by all the ups and downs of the career, they all have signatured their 300th ODI match.
Not only as a player but also as a wicket keeper, he made a record. After Kumar Sangakkara, Dhoni is the only one to play 300 ODIs as a wicket-keeper.
Before going for the retirement Sangakkara came down for 360 ODI matches for Sri Lanka.
Before Dhoni, the ‘god of cricket’ Sachin Tendulkar also starred in 300 matches. He made his retirement after playing 464 ODI matches for India.
Three Lankan players have made a record of 400 matches and they are- Sanath Jayasuriya, Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene.
This record of Dhoni reminded us of all the other records that he made for India. In all three formats of the game he captained the squad for 331 matches.
He also has a batting average of 101.84 while chasing. Moreover, he has the most number of dismissals as an Indian wicket keeper in three formats of the game.
