Good practice day for Bangladesh

It has been a good day for Bangladesh, especially for the batsmen in the first day of the three-day tour game against Cricket South Africa Invitation XI in Benoni.

Bangladesh chose to bat first in the warm-up game. Unfortunately for the Tigers, Tamim Iqbal was retired hurt for five runs. Soumya Sarkar and Imrul Kayes made impressive starts, with 43 off 69 and 34 off 51 respectively.

Mominul Haque and skipper Mushfiqur Rahim hit half-centuries. They put on 119 runs. Mominul scored a brisk 73-ball 68 including nine fours. Mushfiqur was not far too behind with 63 off 85 with eight fours.

The visitors were 211/2 at one stage. 19-year-old Michael Cohen brought down collapse in Bangladeshi line-up and the sixth wicket fell for 220 runs. Sabbir Rahman and Mehidy Hasan Miraz added 52 runs for the seventh wicket partnership.

Miraz was dismissed for 18 while Sabbir remained not out for 58 runs off 89 deliveries with nine boundaries. Taskin Ahmed supported at the other end with 8* off 25. Bangladesh declared for 306/7 in 74.1 overs.

The CSA Invitation XI lost one wicket in reply in the day with the run out of Isaac Dikgale by Sabbir Rahman. The hosts ended the first day on 21/1 in 5.3 overs. Mustafizur Rahman, Subashis Roy and Miraz shared the red cherry so far. CSA XI are trailing by 285 runs with nine wickets remaining.
