ICC likely to approve CSA’s four day Test proposal

ICC likely to approve CSA's four day Test proposal The International Cricket Council is highly likely to grant Cricket South Africa’s request of a four day Test match against Zimbabwe on Boxing Day. ICC would rather take it as a trial hence the approval of the match as a ‘Test’ will be taken in the ICC board meeting in October.

Four day Test match has been among talks since the advent of T20 cricket as the most popular format among crowd though the highest authority of cricket is not still favoring the reduction of length of a the five day game.

Haroon Lorgat, Chief Executive Officer of Cricket South Africa is a strong supporter of four day Test match especially after the inclusion of Ireland and Afghanistan as the new competitors.

Mr. Lorgat said, “We recognize that there is a place for higher-ranked teams to play the lower-ranked teams, or even the lower-ranked teams among themselves, in four-day Test match cricket. “I hope that apart from being a trial, we could have it as a permanent arrangement.”

Lorgat as well as other administrators like ECB Chief Executive Tom Harrison who are backing the decision of reducing a Test match from five day to four said the cricket fraternity should adapt with the changing demand of time.
