Khalid Latif banned for 5 years

Spot fixing and bans, these things aren’t leaving the Pakistan cricket team and another one bites the dust as right hand batsman Khalid Latif has been banned by PCB from all forms of Cricket for playing a role in the spox fixing scandal of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2017.

The 31 old batsman cannot return to cricket till at least 2022. Latif played for Islamabad United in the PSL and he was charged with six major breaches of the PCB’s anti-corruption code and was found guilty of all six on Wednesday. He was also fined 1 million Pakistan Rupees.

Left hand opener Sharjeel Khan was the latest man to get banned. He is also banned for 5 years after found guilty.

Mohammad Irfan & Mohammad Nawaz were also banned for the relatively lesser indiscretions of failure to report corrupt approaches. But both have returned to domestic cricket then.

But there is no path left for Khalid Latif & Sharjheel Khan. They can see the hope of light only after 5 years. With Khalid Latif already being 31 years old, his comeback in International Cricket is unlikely to happen.

Sharjheel Khan started his International Cricket with a bang and he was in great form. But now he is all set to become the next Mohammad Amir who’s half of the career got wasted because of getting involved in spot fixing.
