Indian skipper Virat Kohli marked his 50th T20 international with a match-winning 82 as his side cruised to another comfortable victory in the one-off T20 against Sri Lanka on Wednesday, chasing down 171 in the final over of the game.
Chasing a competitive 171 for victory, Kohli led from the front with a fluent 82 off 54 deliveries while Manish Pandey played the second fiddle by remaining unbeaten on a career- best 51 to guide India to chase down their 171 target with four balls to spare.
Earlier, Dilshan Munaweera who was playing his 10th international T20, slammed a quick-fire 53 off 29 balls with the help of five boundaries and as many as four hits over the fence.
Apart from Munaweera, debutant Ashan Priyanjan hit 40 to take the hosts to 170 after Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav wreaked havoc on the middle-order.
However, the visitors witnessed a bad start to their chase as Malinga sent back Rohit Sharma early while Rahul fell to Seekkuge Prasanna after a decent start. Kohli and Pandey then joined hands and led India to a comfortable victory.
Sri Lanka 170/7 in 20 overs (Dilshan Munaweera 53, Ashan Priyanjan 40*; Yuzvendra Chahal 3-43, Kuldeep Yadav 2-20)
