Pakistan have set a total of runs against the World XI in the first T20 of three-match series. So, World XI have to score 198 runs to win the make and take a lead in the T20s series.
After asking to bat first by the opponent skipper, Pakistan lost Fakhar Zaman in the very first over. He looked aggressive but got out after scoring just 8 runs off 4 balls as he was trapped by Morne Morkel in the first slip to Hashim Amla. Then Babar Azam joined in the middle with Ahmed Shehzad and fought to repair the innings.
They used to charge over the World XI bowlers and started to score quick runs. Shehzad was little bit slow but Babar was phenomenal in playing cameo knock. They added 122 runs partnership off just 81 deliveries in the second wicket stand before Shehzad’s dismissal. Ben Cutting was the bowler who gave the much needed breakthrough to his side in the first ball of 15th over with the help of Sammy’s outstanding piece of fielding.
Shehzad got out after scoring 39 from 34 balls. After losing mate, in a quick time, Babar Azam also trapped in and dismissed by Imran Tahir on 86 and missed the opportunity to pick up century. Hence, Pakistan lost third wicket on 142 in the 16th over. After his dismissal, Pakistan’s run-rate fall down.
After that, Shoaib MaliK’s little cameo of 20 balls 38 runs, including 4 fours and 2 sixes and Imad Washim’s tornado innings of 15 runs off 4 balls in the last over of the innings, helped Pakistan to set a target of on the board, at the end of allotted 20-over.
