The 21-year-old Mosaddek is yet to recover from the viral infection to his left eye which also forced him to miss the recently-concluded two-Test series against Australia.

In a recent interview Mosaddek has informed that he’s not sure when he would recover from the infection as there has been no improvement yet.

“I don’t know what lies ahead. There is no drastic improvement and I am not sure when it will be cured,” Mossadek was quoted as saying on Cricbuzz.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB’s) physician Debashish Chowdhury also didn’t sound too positive about Mosaddek’s chances of making it to the South Africa-bound plane.

“They are saying it can take three to six months (for recovery). No one can give a definite time limit so it will be kind of a miracle if he can make it into the ODI squad for South Africa,” said Debashish Chowdhury, BCB’s chief physician.

However, the physician remained optimistic of the all-rounder making a complete recovery. “There will be no problem for him to play after getting back his vision clearly. Earlier he was struggling for the whole day but now that is not the case, which is encouraging,” he added.

“We sent him there (Bangkok) as per the advice of our local eye specialists. This is not a dangerous infection but it will take time for him to fully recover. The treatment most likely will be the same as our eye specialists advised but we still sent him to get a second opinion” Debashish concluded.
