Top-order left-handed batsman Shahriar Nafees was the first pick of Rangpur Riders. The batsman played for Barisal Bulls in last two editions and showed good form in the 2016 edition. They have also picked emerging cricketers like Nazmul Hossain Apu and Ebadat Hossain Chowdhury. Riders also have big-hitting Ziaur Rahman in the squad.
Abdur Razzak will once again represent Rangpur franchise in BPL. He played for the Riders in 2013 when Rangpur made its debut. He played for Chittagong Vikings last season.
22-year-old Hong Kong-born Warwickshire cricketer Sam Hain was Rangpur’s first foreign pick in the draft. They also picked Samiullah Shinwari, who is pretty well-known in International cricket but Zahir Khan’s inclusion has been a surprising one.
