Imrul scored 34 and a quickfire 51 in the practice match at Willowmoore Park, Benoni. He was criticised for his poor performance against Australia. The 30-year-old is confident ahead of the first Test against Proteas which begins from September 28 at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom.
“I feel confident after scoring runs in the practice match. Actually whenever you score, you can get confidence from that. It does not matter whether I score at home or here. Runs always gives you confidence,” he said.
Bangladesh batsmen do like to play on the front foot. But in South Africa, they need to play back foot shots. Imrul is strong in playing cut and pull shots. He feels the other batsmen also need to be strong on back foot.
“I think in Bangladesh the batsmen tend to play on the front foot more but here the ball will be back of a length more. We are practising as to how we can leave the ball or play on the back foot. Cut and pull are important scoring shots here. We have to become strong in these areas,” he explained.
