‘Shakib can return on second test if he wishes’ says chief selector

Bangladesh squad has been announced on Monday for the upcoming South Africa series. Many criticisms have already started about Shakib’s leave from Test cricket although for a very short time.

Due to his application to BCB which says he needs 6 months rest from Test cricket has put him out of the Test squad for Bangladesh series.

Though he can make his return anytime on this six months as said by Minhajul Abedin Nannu. After announcing the squad he said, “Without Shakib the team will be in back foot but still we can’t help it.”

Nannu added, “He wanted rest from the board and they have approved it. That is why we have kept him out from the 15 men squad for the first Test. Though he can return to the squad for the second Test if he wishes.”

Addressing him as the best cricketer of the country at present, selector Nannu stated that Shakib needs some rest from cricket for now.

Though he expects that he will make his return very soon and said, “Shakib is our best man. He has to remain busy all time due to various cricket league happening around the globe and for which he couldn’t get much rest. That is why he decided to go for a rest. We have given him a leave for just two Tests but we hope he will come and join the squad for the second Test of the SA series.”
