Soumya returned to training

During the practice match against South Africa Invitation XI both the Bangladeshi openers Tamim Iqbal & Soumya Sarkar were injured. The openers were in doubt for the first test but in the end they have been given a green signal. Tamim Iqbal already returned to training on Monday but Soumya Sarkar returned today.

This is a good news for the left hand batsman but that doesn’t change the pressure he’s facing right now due to his poor form. Soumya is getting chances after chances because of coach’s trust in him but he is failing to deliver.

His place in the starting XI is also uncertain at the moment. According to few reports, Imrul Kayes might open with the inform batsman Tamim. Kayes scored a fifty in the practice match and he said several times that the opening position is his comfort zone.

On Tuesday, Soumya joined training with the team at Potchefstroom where the first test will be held. If he somehow make it to the starting XI, then this might be his last chance to keep his place intact in the team.

The first of the two match test series will begin on 28th September. The 2nd test will begin on 6th October. After the test series, they will play 3 ODIs and 2 T20Is against the mighty Proteas.
