Sylhet Sixers on Sunday, arranged an event in Sylhet to officially announce their arrival in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) as they launched the team logo, the vision and mission and all other details of the team.
The Sylhet official clarified the confusion over the team’s name which is often referred to as “Sylhet Super Sixers”.
The franchise officials informed that they had initially come up with the name as Surma Sixers but given the guidelines set by the BPL GC regarding a team’s title, they had to shorten it to Sylhet Sixers.
Earlier, Sylhet participated in the BPL under the name Sylhet Royals, until they were suspended from the last season.
The BPL governing council had given Sylhet the luxury of directly picking three local players from the available list in order to match the other six teams of the tournament in the players’ draft.
Meanwhile, former Bangladesh batsman Faruque Ahmed has been named the team director and Zahid Ehsan will be the head coach while former Bangladesh pacer Hasibul Hossain has been chosen as the team manager.
