In the ongoing month, Bangladesh is all set to tour South Africa. The conditions will be very different than that of the subcontinent conditions. In Asian conditions where spinners get all the advantages, it is the pacers who get advantage in South Africa, New Zealand & Australian pitches.
So it’s always challenging for the Tigers to play in such conditions as they are spin dependent. Bangladesh announced their Test squad on Monday and they selected 5 pacers showing a clear signal that pacers has to do all the job there.
The five pacers who got selected are Mustafizur Rahman, Shafiul Islam, Taskin Ahmed, Rubel Hossain & Subashis Roy. Among the five seamers, Mustafizur Rahman and Rubel Hossain will be the players to watch out for and they are well ahead of the other three seamers when it comes to playing in away conditions.
So far in away conditions, the Fizz has played 2 Test matches and got 8 wickets with an economy rate of 2.82 while in home he has played 4 Test matches and got 9 wickets with an economy of 3.11.
On the other hand, Rubel Hossain is a handy bowler in away conditions too. He played 9 Tests away from home and picked up 18 wickets with economy of 4.01 while at home he played 15 matches and took 14 wickets with economy of 3.82.
With Mustafizur Rahman’s cutters and Rubel Hossain’s deadly Yorkers, they can surprise the Proteas batsmen at any moment. If Bangladesh are to put up a fight against the mighty South Africa then these two have to be at their best and with the 3rd pacer supporting them, they can put Proteas into trouble at their own den.
