Vikings manager believes Soumya can fill the gaps of Tamim

In the last 2 seasons, Tamim Iqbal was the icon of Chittagong Vikings. The boy from Chittagong was also the captain. It was something very exciting for the left hand batsman to lead his home team.

But in the 5th edition of BPL, Tamim won’t be seen in Chittagong Vikings’ jersey again. He will play for Comilla Victorians in this season.

The fans from Chittagong are disappointed that Tamim won’t be available for their team anymore but the Vikings have taken Tamim’s opening partner in the national team Soumya Sarkar. They are hopeful that Soumya can fill the gaps of Tamim Iqbal.

Chittagong Vikings manager said in a press conference: “Tamim played 2 years for us and he has contributed a lot in this team. It would have been good for us if he stayed. But we hope that we can start afresh with Soumya Sarkar.”

When asked if he is satisfied with the team, he said: “We are satisfied with our team. We tried to work on our weaknesses that we had in the last 2 seasons. In the last 2 years, we had a heavyweight team but they couldn’t perform well.”

Coincidentally, Chittagong Vikings have to start their 5th edition of BPL with Tamim as they will take on Comilla Victorians in their first match on 6th November.
