Bangladesh under-19 ends series with a loss

Young tigers ends the series with yet another defeat

The five match ODI series between Bangladesh Under-19 and Afghanistan Under-19 was arranged for having a good preparation before the under-19 World Cup but it ended in a horrific way for the young Tigers as they lost the series 3-1.

Afghanistan Under-19 came back strongly in the series after losing the first ODI. The 2nd ODI was washed out due to rain but then they won the last 3 ODIs and sealed the series. The 5th and the final ODI took place on friday at the Sylhet International Stadium.

Afghanistan after winning the toss, elected to bat first and put a healthy score of 239 runs on the board. In reply, Bangladesh managed to score only 206 runs and lost the match by 33 runs.

Bangladesh were in trouble right from the beginning when they came to bat in the 2nd innings. Chasing 240, they lost 5 wickets for just 80 runs. When wickets were tumbling, Touhid Hridoy was the only batsman fighting in the other end.

But he lost his wicket when he was only 7 runs away from scoring a well deserved hundred. He scored 93 runs from 108 balls with 10 fours and 2 sixes.

The man for Afghanistan was Wafadar Momand who picked up 4 wickets for 52 runs. Mujib ur Rahman picked up 2 wickets on the other side.

The hosts must be disappointed after a poor performance throughout the series except the first ODI and it might be a setback for the young Tigers before the world cup.
