But Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal doesn’t agree with Shaun Pollock and he supports his team-mate Shakib’s decision.
He said to a reporter on Sunday: “Nobody understands a player’s fitness more than him. I don’t care what Shaun Pollock or other big cricketers say. Shakib will take rest or not, its his decision only. If he thinks he can’t give his 100% and he should take rest, then he should rest.”
While replying to Pollock, Tamim has given a example of English pacer James Anderson: “Why Anderson only plays in England? Why doesn’t he come in Asia? Why doesn’t he come in Bangladesh? I didn’t see anyone asking questions like these. But it became a story all over the world just because Shakib took rest in a series.”
He added: “We can also say that Anderson’s ball won’t swing here, that’s why he doesn’t come. Without a doubt, he’s one of the greatest bowler in the world right now. He was maybe injured or had other reasons, that’s why he didn’t come. But no one talks about it. Then why everyone talking about Shakib’s decision?”
