Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced a 16-member squad for three ODIs against the Proteas. Nasir was brought back into the team after he was dropped for Champions Trophy in England and Wales.
Nasir has been an in-and-out face in Bangladesh side in recent years. He last played an ODI in May this year against New Zealand in a tri-nation series in Dublin. He missed out in the Champions Trophy event but got chance in home series against Australia where he played two Tests. He was dropped again for South Africa Tests.
“It’s team management’s matter. They pick me when they need me. When they don’t, I wasn’t needed. I used to think a lot about it. Now I don’t. Nowadays, I try to play well if I get opportunity. Or if I don’t get opportunity, I at least try to enter into the team,” the 25-year-old said on his recall to ODI team.
Nasir appeared in 59 ODIs for Bangladesh and scored 1262 runs at 32.25 in 47 innings with one century and six fifties. He has 23 wickets to his name in 38 innings.
