Bangladesh wicket-keeper Liton Das’ catch to dismiss Temba Bavuma has been one of the headlines of day four of the Potchefstroom Test. [নিউজটি বাংলায় পড়ুনঃ লিটনের ক্যাচের প্রশংসায় বাভুমা]
Bavuma, on 71, attempted a paddle sweep off a full-length delivery from Mominul Haque in the last ball of the 51st over of South Africa’s innings. Liton anticipated it earlier and went down the leg-side. In the end, he succeeded in grabbing the catch. Everyone was impressed by Liton’s effort.
After the day’s play, Bavuma was full of praise for Liton at the press conference.
“I can’t fault the shot that I played to be honest. At that point you had to take calculated risks. The keeper did something quite special to take that catch.
“He did have a really good game with the gloves. I don’t think it’s easy keeping on that kind of wicket where there is some variable bounce, especially for the spin. I think he held up quite well. I think he is the second choice keeper after Mushfiqur (Rahim) and I think he can hold his head up high for what he did with the gloves,” the South African batsman said.
Liton had taken a similar catch to dismiss Niroshan Dickwella in Galle Test this year. He said that he enjoys keeping behind the wickets.
“This is the second time I have taken such a catch in Tests. I always enjoy wicket-keeping. Sometimes good things happen and sometimes there are misses. When it goes my way, I feel happy. It is all part of the game,” he said.
“I kept wickets in the practice game so I adjusted well. I am enjoying the conditions.”
Liton had four dismissals in the second innings including three catches and one stumping. He has now nine dismissals as wicket-keeper in 5 Tests.
