In an attempt to convince the country’s cricketers to pay heed to a 24 hour tour to Pakistan for completing the single T20I match to be played over there, the Sri Lanka Cricket said those who will refuse to travel to Pakistan would not be considered for the other two T20s in the series as well.
SLC Chief Selector Graeme Labrooy said, “The understanding is that we choose the same squad for the series, in fairness to the players who have put their hands up for the Lahore match.”
While Upul Tharanga has already delivered his unwillingness to travel in the trouble shoot place, the board, if they will decide to stick to their plan of considering a single squad to play the whole T20I series, might have to look for a new captain.
“At the moment the board is talking to each of the players individually, so the selectors don’t know exactly who is available now,” Labrooy said. “But we should know that by Friday morning. Two SLC executive committee members have been contacting the players.”
The match in Lahore will be in 29th of October this year.
