After a lot of matches, Soumya Sarkar was seen in his old touch against South Africa in the 1st T20I but it wasn’t enough to ensure a victory and rightly so the left opener said this innings has no value.
Soumya said in the press conference: “If I could have made the innings big, if the team would have won, then I could have talk about my innings. I couldn’t finish, the team didn’t won. This innings has no value.”
The opener also thinks the start was really good but they failed to capitalize in the last 10 overs: “In the last 10 overs, if the batsman from 3 to 6 could have scored runs, then it could have been easy for us. We could have a set batsman then.”
Though they ended up in the losing side, they showed better performance than the Test and ODI series and Soumya also said this team has the capability to perform well.
He said: “They scored almost 200 runs today. We scored 175. Obviously, we have the capability. If a batsman from the middle order could have score runs, then we would have easily win the match. Now we have the confidence that we can also score 200.”
The 2nd and the last T20I will be held on at the Potchefstroom on 29th October and this will be the last chance to grab a win in the tour for Bangladesh and avoid a complete whitewash.
