Team Bangladesh has welcomed the ODI skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza in the camp with two other premier performers, Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal although Tamim is yet amidst uncertainty to play the first one day international match of the series.
Floating in the air of criticism, Bangladesh ODI skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza said the team should take into the field accepting some negative atmosphere.
In the pre match press briefing, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza also suggested the team to lessen dependency upon Shakib Al Hasan, “I think it’s not right to depend upon any particular person. Shakib is generally under the pressure of lots of expectation. He has to step into the field with such pressure every day.”
“If other team mates also keep looking towards him, it would be too difficult for Shakib. I think everyone in the team should do his own duty attentively. We should play well as a team departing the think of who has come and gone,” Mashrafe energized the team.
He also said, “All of our wins came with team effort. Even junior members of the team contributed well; we have to take the field taking all these into account. It is normal to be criticized. As a performer, you have to play with these.”
“There will be good times, there will be bad times. They have been playing for two and half years, these things are very important to learn. Taking into account the performance of near future, I’m not happy at all because they have the capabilities to do better,” the skipper said.
“Perhaps they cannot make a turnaround mentally. It is something to ponder about. I want them to be mentally strong so that performers like Mushfiqur, Shakib could reach in the height where they are assumed of,”
Bangladesh ever inspiring captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza urged the batsmen to play long innings.
“It is important whether it be Test, ODI or T20I. It might not be of so important in the shortest format of the game, but we have been talking for long in ODI and Test. To me it is almost compulsory for a batsman to score a big knock once he get set in the crease,” he added.
Mashrafe Bin Mortaza further said, “He who could hold up to 25 to 30 runs should play a longer innings than others. We have been trying this since the beginning of this year. I wish the team could watch the trend from the coming ODI series.”
