South African skipper Faf du Plessis has expressed definitive pleasure after crushing Bangladesh by a huge margin of 333 runs in the first Test of the two match Test series. The rain affected match has just ended in Potchefstroom before the lunch break as all the batsmen of the visiting team were cartoned within 90 runs.
Faf du Plessis said, “We are very happy. Over the four-five days, we were consistent. Bowlers were exceptional.”
Despite the win, the Proteas skipper expressed some discontentment over the condition in Potchefstroom saying, “Obviously, we were disappointed with the conditions. In these conditions, we were going to get wickets either through spin or reverse swing. But the guys did well.”
Du Plessis further said, “We are not complaining that it’s an early finish. Morne will be disappointed. He has been bowling well. He has reached that level now. To lose another key member is very disappointing. But that gives other guys an opportunity. Hopefully, the wicket will be a bit better (for the next Test) with some grass. Happy with the debutant (Aiden Markram) as well.”
