Youth batting collapse leads another thrashing defeat

Bangladesh U19 top-order has collapsed once again. This time Afghanistan U19 have sealed a 45-run victory in the fourth Youth ODI at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

Afghan youths posted 133 runs in 45 overs after they were put into bat. Nisar Wahdat remained top-scorer with 53 runs off 93 deliveries hitting three sixes and a four. He put on a 57-run stand for the eighth wicket with skipper Naveen-ul-Haq, who made 16.

Nayeem Hasan created all problems for the visitors as he scalped five wickets for 38 runs in nine overs. Bangladesh U19 captain Saif Hassan showed magic with his off-spinn as well. He took 3 wickets for seven runs in six overs with three maidens.

With the hosts needing 134 to win, they were six wickets down for 11 runs in no time. None of the top six batsmen could reach double figures. By the time, Mujeeb Zadran picked up his fifth wicket.

Mahidul Islam Ankon and Nayeem started to rebuild and added 75 runs for the seventh-wicket stabd. Mahidul scored 63-ball 43 runs including three fours and two sixes. Nayeem, the hero with the ball, scored 30 off 67 balls with four boundaries.

Afghanistan U19 ripped through the lower-order after breaking the partnership. Mujeeb went on to scalp magical 7 wickets for 19 runs 9.3 overs. The visitors pulled off a 45-run victory as Bangladesh U19 were dismissed for 88 runs in 30.3 overs. This is the second consecutive match that the youth Tigers have been bowled under 100 runs.

The fifth and final ODI will take place at the same venue in Sylhet on October 6. Afghanistan U19 are leading the series by 2-1.
