Defending champion Dhaka Dynamites resurrected from the devastation of the huge defeat in the first match and claimed their first win of the season on Sunday. In the second match of the second day of the Bangladesh Premier League, Dhaka Dynamites snatched the big win of 65 runs against Khulna Titans at the Sylhet International Stadium.
The 202 run target proved too high for the Titans’ batsmen; they were never been in real chase for a win continued losing wickets in string from the beginning. They were bowled out scoring 137 runs losing all wickets with 11 balls to spare.
Abu Hider Rony produced the first breakthrough for the Dynamites sending back Titan’s opener Nazmul Hossain Shanto in the second over.
Dhaka Dynamite’s icon Shakib Al Hasan claimed back to back wickets afterwards uprooting other opener Chadwick Walton and one down batsman Carlos Brathwaite thus thrashed the Titans’ back from the competition in the match.
Khulna Titans, therefore, could never been able to come back in the game, started losing wickets at regular interval.
Jofra Chioke scored highest in the innings; he made a 24 ball 36 with 5 fours.
The previous season title holder Dynamites was sent into bat first by Khulna Titans who opted to bowl first after winning the toss in the evening.
The Dhaka Dynamites’ innings was powered by two brilliant half centuries by Evin Lewis and Cameron Delport. Off them, Delport was more destructive hitting Titan’s bowlers all around the ground. With a strike rate of more than 200, Delport pitched 5 sixes along with four fours.
Delport and Lewis constructed a 116 run partnership in the second wicket; Lewis became the highest scorer scoring 66 runs in 40 balls. Lewis hit 7 fours and 3 sixes.
For Khulna Titans, Abu Jayed and Shafiul Islam captured 2 wickets each.
