Former Bangladesh head coach Chandika Hathurusingha is now officially confirmed to take over the captaincy of Sri Lanka national team in coming December after the ongoing series against India will be over.
Earlier this week, Hathurusingha visited Colombo and met with SLC board officials. Later the SLC source said, “We are glad that the negotiations have been successful. He visited the board and then took a look at the facilities we have in place.”
“He is very close to our Vice-President Mr. Kangatharan Mathivanan and it is he who convinced Hathurusingha to take over as Head Coach and he is leading the negotiations from our side,” the source added.
While in responsibility of Bangladesh cricket, Chandika Hathurusingha was the fourth highest paid coach in the cricket world. Now SLC has increased the monetary benefit in a significant amount.
According to a report of Cricbuzz, the pay package will be US$ 300,000 for which Hathurusingha will coach Sri Lanka.
With that annual financial package, Hathurusingha will be the highest paid Sri Lankan coach in the history.
