While the process is still going on with Bangladesh, Sri Lankan cricketers and media have expressed wishes to have Chandika Hathurusingha to take in charge of Sri Lanka national team. The Lankan borne coach Hathurusingha submitted resignation from the head coach of team Bangladesh after the series against South Africa.
Sri Lankan middle order batsman Dimuth Karunaratne said it would great to have Hathurusingha in Sri Lanka.
He also said, “I don’t yet know nothing about the appointment of Chandika Hathurusingha in Sri Lanka team. I’ve heard that he will come to us though it is yet to be assured of.”
“It will be really great if Hathurusingha would come to join with us because most of us are acquainted of him. I myself even play under his coaching in district level,” Karunaratne added.
Meanwhile Bangladesh Cricket Board Chief Executive Officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury said Hathurusingha has been called to meet and explain his resignation decision but in the meantime reports also said the head coach of Bangladesh has utterly rejected to do so.
