India skipper Virat Kohli who is considered as one of the finest batsmen of current era, has equalled former cricketer Kapil Dev’s dubious record of most ducks for an Indian captain in a calendar year on Thursday.
The 30-year old batsman got out for a duck in the first Test against Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. This is his fifth duck this year, across all formats of the game. Now Kohli joins Kapil Dev, as the Indian captain with most ducks in a calendar year.
Kohli scored one duck in T20 international in 2017 while two each in Test and ODIs. Interestingly enough, all his duck this year came against two sides. He scored most duck against Australia with three duck and two against Sri Lanka.
Kohli’s first duck of the year was against Australia in Pune Test. The next instance was at the Champions Trophy against Sri Lanka, followed by two ducks against Australia in ODI and T20I series at home.
Here is the list of Kohli’s duck in 2017 :
vs Australia at Pune on 23 February (1st Innings, Test)
vs Sri Lanka at The Oval on 8 June (ODI)
vs Australia at Chennai on 17 September (ODI)
vs Australia at Guwahati on 10 October (T20I)
