The Sheffield Shield match between New South Wales and Queensland was delayed by 30 minutes after a fire alarm broke in the Stuart Law stand where players of both teams, scorers and media personalities sat down.
Umpires postponed the match and the stand was immediately evacuated. But at the end, the incident was discovered a rather hilarious one when New South Wales spinner Nathan Lyon admitted it was he who is the cause of mishap because he attempted to turn a toast crispier leading it to burn at the end.
“The toast popped up first and I wasn’t happy so I put it back down and I got carried away watching cricket,” Lyon described.
The toast burnt down and the fire alarm broke at one. Embarrassed Lyon admitted, “There is a first for everything.”
However, the bizarre occurrence did not stop New South Wales from winning the match.
