The fifth edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) started at the Sylhet International Stadium today and the home team Sylhet Sixers crushed the defending champions Dhaka Dynamites in the first match of the tournament.
Though the Icon player of Sylhet Sixers is Sabbir Rahman, the captain’s role has been given to Nasir Hossain and he proved it the team management did nothing wrong. Dhaka Dynamites, who are way more stronger than Sylhet on paper have been outplayed in all departments and Nasir can surely take some credit for his outstanding bowling and captaincy.
After the match, Nasir didn’t forget to thank the fans and gave them credit for the victory during the press conference. He said: “I thank the fans for supporting us. I hope they will support and encourage us like this in every match.”
Nasir also gave credit to his bowlers: “We are very happy and proud after winning the first match. The bowlers bowled superbly in the first 6 overs. They kept that going until the end. Our plans worked well.”
After some amazing captaincy, Nasir deserved some appreciation and rightly so it was given by BCB director Akram Khan. He said: “Nasir captained the side in the past too. But for the first time I am fascinated seeing his captaincy. He led from the front. And, when captain lead from the front, everyone in the team performs well.”
