The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) witnessed a huge mistake on Tuesday during the match between Rangpur Riders and Sylhet Sixers. Seven balls were bowled in an over of Kamrul Islam Rabbi during the 16th over of Rangpur Riders.
Sylhet Sixers are furious about this matter and seeing this as a reason of losing the match. Sylhet’s technical advisor Faruque Ahmed believes that one ball could have make a huge difference.
During a conference with online news portal Jago news, he said: “It was a close match. Here one ball makes a huge difference,”
“Suppose, if we were all out like Khulna Titans for 111 runs and if our opponent’s score would have been 80 or 90 runs with loss of 1 or 2 wickets, then it wouldn’t be counted as a big mistake. But the story is difference. We posted a big score of 173 runs. The match was turning like a pendulum. When we bowled an extra ball, then both the teams were in same position. In that time, this type of mistake is a big mistake.”
He added: “The story could have been different without that extra ball. Because of that extra ball, Ravi Bopara took the strike and he was well set. He got strike in the next over and that obviously benefitted Rangpur.”
