Players can change franchise in mid tournament during IPL

IPL brand value rises to USD 5.3 billionFrom the next edition of the Indian Premier League, certain rules might have been changed on account giving more opportunities to cricketers. The players could change the franchise team in the midst of the tournament; the system is quite similar to mid-transfer procedure applied in club football.

If any cricketer will be out of the playing eleven for seven consecutive matches, another franchise team can fetch him to play in their team. The rule is yet to be finalized and approved by IPL governing council.

The proposed new rule will facilitate both franchise teams and cricketers. Many of the purchased cricketers were seen spending time in dugouts without having a chance to play in a single match.
