When most of the teams are counting on the foreign players, Mahmudullah Riyad’s Khulna Titans have given their priorities to local players more. There has been a lot of talking about playing five foreign players in each team.
Some cricketers and coaches have took it in a positive way while some in negative. Khulna Titans skipper Mahmudullah is on the side of positive. The all-rounder thinks its a great challenge.
The foreign players dominated in the Sylhet leg but the local players turned it around in the Dhaka leg.
When asked how many marks Mahmudullah will give to them, he said: “Its actually hard to give marks. 60-70 percent players are performing. As five foreign players are playing, the local players struggled in the beginning. But slowly many of them are performing. The local bowlers are bowling very well, batsmen are scoring runs too. This is a positive thing.”
He added: “I think its a good challenge to play against them. As a cricketer, its our work to take challenge. Playing with five foreign players has a benefit. We are getting a chance of facing a different challenge. But its also important for the local players to perform. I think the local players are in good touch. This is good for our cricket.”
The point table is changing after almost every match and the competition is turning into an intense one. The Khulna Titans captain expressed his excitement about this: “The point table is very interesting at the moment. I think now every match is important. We have to think match by match. All the teams are pretty strong.”
In the Chittagong leg, Khulna Titans’ first match will be against the mighty Rangpur Riders on Friday. Khulna so far have played 7 matches and won 4.
