When it is difficult for a team to score even 200 in the shortest format of the game, Salman Butt and Kamral Akmal together scored 209 runs alone.
In Pakistan’s National T20 Cup at Rawalpindi on Friday, openers Akmal and Butt created history after building a partnership of 209 runs in the opening stand which is now the biggest opening partnership in the history of T20 Cricket.
Akmal and Butt plays for Lahore Whites and they achivied this feat against Islamabad. The both openers scored 209 runs in 20 overs which is also now the highest score ever without losing a wicket.
The previous record partnership was 207 runs made by Joe Denly and Daniel Bell in England’s Natwest T20 blast.
Though the partnership was 209 runs, Akmal’s contrubtion was bigger as he scored 150 runs off just 71 balls and this is now also the highest individual score for a wicket keeper batsman in Pakistan.
On the other side, Butt scored 55 runs and supported Akmal till the end to made the record breaking partnership.
