Rangpur Riders have successfully emerged victorious through a tense match against Sylhet Sixers at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka a little while ago and have able to make hopes alive to enter into the second round of the tournament.
In a nerve wrecking contest, the Riders defended the total of 169 runs as Sylhet Sixers fall 7 runs short of the victory target.
Despite having too many wickets at hand, Sylhet Sixers drastically failed to manage scoring rate ended at 162 runs in their 20 overs with 6 more wickets remaining in hand.
Earlier in the evening, Caribbean batting maestro Chris Gayle along with Kiwi hard hitter Brendon McCullum powered the Riders to accumulate a competitive total on the board.
Gayle entertained the crowd smashing big sixes in between every corner of the ground, was uprooted by Abul Hasan after reaching his fifty. His 50 off 39 deliveries was ornamented with 5 over boundaries and 3 boundaries.
Brendon McCullum hit equal number of fours and sixes (4×3, 6×3) on the way to his 33 runs.
