The governing body of the Bangladesh Premier League authenticated several changed prior to its’ fifth edition of which allowing franchises to take five foreign cricketers in the playing eleven instead of previously allotted four is one. The world number one all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, although has been silent upon the issue since then, has now opened up against the ill effects of this particular arrangement.
On Thursday, while talking to an occasion, Shakib Al Hasan said, “Firstly I was quite positive in this issue but now I’m seeing that our local cricketers are deprived of opportunities for this which is very ominous for cricket in our country.”
The sound performance by Sri Lankan cricketers in this season’s BPL might go against Bangladesh in the forthcoming home series against Sri Lanka, apprehended Shakib.
He said, “It’s a like good practice for them before the forthcoming series. They are adjusting with weather and wicket condition here. As they are showing good performances, our local cricketers are out of action now. To me it could bring bad effects in the upcoming home series.”
Sri Lanka national team will visit Bangladesh to play bilateral series in the later part of the next month.
