The tournament will commence on March 8 and will end with a Final on March 20. Each team will play two matches against each side. All the games wil be held at Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium.
SLC will be hosting the tournament to celebrate the country’s 70th anniversary. In 1998, India and New Zealand took part in Nidahas Trophy in Sri Lanka’s 50th anniversary. That ODI tri-series was won by India.
SLC president Thilan Sumathipala is optimistic about the series next year.
“70 years is a long journey, and one that needs to be commemorated and celebrated. We are happy that our closest neighbours, who share more or less the same journey of independence, are joining us in this celebration, which we believe will be a milestone and an augur of the great things to come in the annals of cricket,” he said.
Both Bangladesh and India toured Sri Lanka for bilateral series this year. Bangladesh managed to win three wins from seven games across formats while Sri Lanka also achieved the same. India completed a 9-0 whitewash against them in July-September.
