The match between Sylhet Sixers and Rangpur Riders was a do or die match for Sylhet to stay alive in the tournament. They were well in to win the match, but Mashrafe’s brilliance with the bat snatched the victory away.
After the end of the match, Sylhet Sixers skipper Nasir Hossain was seen arguing with the Umpires for something in a furious way. Later it was known that 7 balls in an over was bowled by Kamrul Islam Rabbi. The bowler complained about this with the Umpire but he stayed with his decision.
In the press conference, no players of Sylhet Sixers were appearing. After few moments, Nabil Samad came and talked about the matter.
He said: “We were given an extra ball to bowl in the 16th over. This was said to the umpire before. Rabbi said to the umpire that his over is finished. I am not sure whether he cross-checked with the 3rd umpire because I was in other side. Later I heard that an extra ball was bowled. We have told that to BCB, now they will take decision about this matter.”
Rabbi, who bowled the 7 balls in a over told reporters: “I was done with my over. I always count the balls during my bowling. I gave the ball to the umpire and said – Sir over. He said one more ball left after checking. I bowled another ball then. Me and my captain told him several times that my over was done. In the next over I told him that I will bowl 5 balls, because there is a matter of being fined too if we take too many time.”
