Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon has informed that decision about Bangladesh’s new coach will be taken on Sunday’s board meeting with former coach Richard Pybus already giving a presentation. [নিউজটি বাংলায় পড়ুনঃ কোচের ব্যাপারে সিদ্ধান্ত রবিবার]
Pybus gave a presentation to BCB on Wednesday. The board seeked reasons for Pybus’ resignation in 2012. But Pybus didn’t want to answer.
“Of course we had [his resignation from Bangladesh] in mind. We asked him plenty of questions about it. But it is better we don’t talk about the previous board. He is saying the same things [about the board]. I asked him, then why do you want to come now? He had his answer, but I don’t think we need to talk about it,” he said.
Papon was unsure to whether the Tigers will get a coach ahead of Sri Lanka series or not. Moreover, former West Indies WT20 winning coach Phil Simmons is another candidate for Bangladesh head coach post. The West Indian will arrive on Saturday. A decision is likely to come on Sunday.
“It is hard to say whether we are going to appoint a coach before the Sri Lanka series [in January 2018] but we are trying to get someone soon,” Hassan said.
“Simmons will arrive on December 9 while another coach is also supposed to arrive within this time. We won’t reveal his name. We want to take a decision on our December 10 meeting,” he added.
