Table topper Comilla Victorians have kept their amazing run going in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and they have defeated Sylhet Sixers comfortably by 25 runs in the match number 42.

With this match, the league stage of the fifth edition of BPL comes to an end. The match between Comilla Victorians and Sylhet Sixers was nothing but just a formality as Comilla have qualified in the play offs while Sylhet is knocked out from the tournament.

Sylhet Sixers’ skipper Nasir Hossain elected to field first after winning the toss and his decision backfired in the end as Comilla posted a huge score of 170 runs. Opener Liton Das who was struggling throughout the tournament has finally showed what he is capable of. The wicket-keeper batsman scored 65 runs off just 43 balls and the other batsman who helped Comilla to reach to a huge total was Marlon Samuels. He was unbeaten for 55 runs off just 43 balls.

In reply, Sylhet Sixers couldn’t start off well and kept losing wickets. The only batsman who looked in good touch for Sylhet was Sabbir Rahman. He scored 31 runs from 20 balls including 3 boundaries in a row which was the only highlight of the match for Sylhet. The pick of the bowler for Comilla was once again the young star Mahedi Hasan who picked up 2 wickets and Zimbabwean leg-spinner Graeme Cremer who picked up 3 crucial wickets.

After 1 day break, Khulna Titans will take on Rangpur Riders in the Eliminator and Dhaka Dynamites will battle against the Comilla Victorians in the Qualifier 1 for a place in the final at the Mirpur Shere Bangla National Stadium.
