The Mirpur wicket came into more limelight when Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and Tamim Iqbal criticized the wicket after playing against each other. Mashrafe termed it as a terrible wicket while Tamim said its not an ideal wicket for T20.

In the final league game, Rangpur Riders lost their match against the defending champions Dhaka Dynamities. As Mashrafe Bin Mortaza was rested, Brendon McCullum led the side for Rangpur Riders. The former New Zealand captain didn’t have a good time with the bat in the tournament and McCullum claimed Mirpur wicket is one of the reason behind it.

He said:“I think it was a very weak wicket. There are many quality and good cricketers here. Everyone wants to see exciting cricket here. I don’t think they were able to see any kind of match like that today. The wicket have to be good in the upcoming matches.”

McCullum has scored only 152 runs in 9 matches with an average of 16. The former Kiwi batsman believes he can score runs if a good wicket is given: “Obviously I want to score more runs. But in the last few years, I am used to playing in different kind of wickets. As a stroke maker, its getting tough to play here. Obviously my performance should have been more better. But it would have been good if we could get better wicket. Give us good wicket, me and Gayle will score runs.”
