In the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet are the three venues for the tournament and among them the Dhaka pitch has disappointed the fans and as well as some cricketers.
Due to low scoring matches in the Dhaka leg, the pitch has been cricitized. But BPL Governing Council’s member secretary Ismail Haider said they have did nothing special in the the Mirpur wicket for the BPL.
He said: “We sat with the ground management. We told them to improve the wicket. But that doesn’t mean the wicket is too bad. In one match, it was accidentaly very low score. Batsmen gifted their wickets. It takes almost four months to change a wicket. We said to the management that the wicket should not turn into worse.”
He also disagreed to the fact that this wicket is not for T20: “You can’t say that this wicket is not that good for T20. Tamim said me yesterday that this wicket is not good enough for T20, but the wicket is not bad too.”
He added: “It is not fair enough to question curator’s ability. He is working here for last four years. Bangladesh have many success in this stadium. Now one team got all out in 97 runs, batsmen couldn’t adjust themselves, then targeting the curator is not justified.”
