The newly appointed coach of Sri Lanka, Chandrika Hathurusingha has taken some strong measures to revive the team’s fallen spirit as the team has been passing through losing streaks after the retirement of bunch of legends like Mahela Jayawardene, Kumar Sangakkara. The former Bangladesh head coach demanded full control over the selection procedure of Sri Lanka team; the island borne Australian coach also banned ‘music’ during training session to ensure strict discipline.
After his first training session with the team, Hathurusingha said, ““If they are interested in music they will have to go home.”
“I need full control and responsibility to pick the playing eleven. According to the sports law the coach can’t get involved in selections. They are considering my request to be a selector while being the coach,” added the 49-year-old.
“I want to see him make visits from time to time to work with the players,” he added further.
The 1996 World Cup winner Sri Lanka has been going through their worst cricketing area for last couple of years. Chandika Hathurusingha said he wants to make sure the team will be totally prepared for 2019 World Cup.
The island nation is looking forward for the new year task of playing a bilateral away series against Bangladesh starting from January 2018.
Chandika Hathurusingha quit from Bangladesh’s coach position long before ending his terms after the away series against South Africa earlier this year. During his period of training Bangladesh excelled in limited over cricket.
