Khulna beats table topper Comilla

In the match number 39 of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Khulna Titans have defeated the Comilla Victorians who are at the top of the table by 14 runs. 

After winning the toss, Khulna Titans’ skipper Mahmudullah Riyad elected to bat first and both the openers proved their skipper’s decisiom was right. Nazmul Hossain and Micheal Klinger scored 55 rums together in 5.5 overs before Nazmul departed for 37 runs.

After losing some quick wickets, Khulna lighted up again courtesy of two finishers Carlos Brathwaite and Ariful Haque. Ariful scored 35 runs off 21 balls while Brathwaite scored 22 of just 12. Due to some top class finishing, Khulna finished with a huge total of 174 runs in their 20 overs. 

In reply, Comilla Victorians didn’t start off well as they lost Soleman More early. But then Imrul Kayes and Tamim Iqbal built a solid partnership of 63 runs but after that they fell in trouble when both the batsmen departed in the space of just 4 runs.

In the end, Raqibul Hasan’s 17 off 9 balls couldn’t take Comilla over the line and Khulna won comfortably by 14 runs. Abu Jayed and Howell both took two wickets for Khulna.

With this win, Khulna Titans are now at 2nd position and they will stay if Dhaka Dynamites beat Rangpur Riders on Wednesday.
