Mahedi was called into the 32-member preliminary squad for tri-nation series and Sri Lanka series. He along with other members of the side have done their beep test on Wednesday.
Mahedi said that the first day was exciting but faced an awkward moment.
“It was really an exciting morning for being part of national team’s camp for the first tine. It was a different experience from breakfast to dressing room.”
“Everyone was sitting on chairs in the dressing rom. I couldn’t get my seat. Wherever I wanted to sit, I saw that it was someone else’s set. I was getting a bit nervous because of it. I was standing for a long time… Teammates said that it can happen at the beginning. It will be okay slowly,” he said.
Mahedi has been in good form with both bat and ball in recent times. He bowled impressively for Comilla Victorians in BPL 2017. His off-spin at the top proved to be effective. Later on, he smashed 177 in the final round on NCL 2017-18 for Khulna Division against Dhaka Division.
When asked if he would get a call-up in the main squad, he replied that he would give more of his best.
“Definitely I am hopeful. Whoever comes to the side, they will want to give their best. If I am required to give more of 100 percent, I will give,” he added.
